MEATEATER<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m gonna go rank my favorite Netflix hunting show first, so in case you decide not to read anything else, you&#8217;ve at least learned about this amazing show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MeatEater is the best hunting related show ever made. Period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s hosted by renowned outdoorsman and conservationist Steven Rinella, and blends hunting, cooking and nature exploration. Which happen to be my three favorite things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the show we follow Steven as he embarks on various hunting expeditions for a large variety of big game animals, such as deer, elk and bear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best part of the show, however, is that Rinella continuously emphasizes the importance of <em>ethical<\/em> hunting, responsible conservation practices, and the deep connection between us humans and the natural world that we come for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essentially, he preaches about everything The Elite Hunter is always preaching as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re tired of hearing the PETA fanatics judge you for hunting, watch this show, and you&#8217;ll be able to tell them just how incredibly good natural food sourcing is for animals as whole, the environment &#8211; and you know, taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"MeatEater Season 9 | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AN0-KpzJ_fU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/search?q=battlefish&amp;jbv=80195173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BATTLEFISH<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next we got Battlefish. This was the first one I caught, and I think I binged the whole show in a weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not usually one for fishing shows, but I&#8217;ve learned that tuna fishing is more like hunting &#8211; but in water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it&#8217;s totally badass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Battlefish | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BdKZkhxFQXs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/watch\/81083833?trackId=255824129\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOUTHERN SURVIVAL<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike traditional hunting shows, Southern Survival features a crew that simply evaluates different various outdoor survival gear. Sounds boring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I promise you it is not!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These guys are super hardcore and focus on equipment within survival technology. It&#8217;s packed with action and demonstration and perfectly blends entertainment and practical survival knowledge in the coolest way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Southern Survival | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m_k3tSHwQd0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/search?q=alone&amp;jbv=81480322\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OUTLAST<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alone is more of a reality show, but hear me out; it&#8217;s not one of those scripted ones where they take you to the side and cut and prod you for drama. It&#8217;s legit. The contestants film themselves, and you can be guaranteed that there&#8217;s no camera crew to the side providing frappuccinos and vegan carrot dip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants are all isolated in the wilderness and must fend for themselves. They gotta source their food, shelter, and safety &#8212; which naturally means they&#8217;ve gotta employ both hunting and foraging skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also like to imagine how I would do in their scenarios. Although I won&#8217;t hide the fact that when I head out in the wild I pack with me all the gear I can muster, I always wonder how I&#8217;d do in a real survival scenario. WILD<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean I can&#8217;t go through the whole list without mentioning the famous Bear Grylls. I know I know, it&#8217;s not really that much about hunting, and he most definitely has a camera crew with him, but you still learn a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interactive format is also really fun, kind of like a &#8220;choose your own adventure&#8221; style. I&#8217;ve learned a lot about survival techniques, but most importantly, how to think critically about different survival choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"You vs. Wild | Interactive Series ft. Bear Grylls | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pwcr3cc0LZM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/search?q=win%20the%20wild&amp;jbv=80987454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WIN THE WILDERNESS: ALASKA<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the best reality shows out there, in my opinion, is Win the Wilderness. It&#8217;s a british surivival competition, where participants are dropped on a remote property in Alaska. They have to use surivival skills, hunting and common sense to endure in the rugged and challenging environment of Alaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Win the Wilderness: Alaska | BBC Two\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dqrIUOmnqj8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/watch\/80176715?trackId=255824129&amp;tctx=%2C%2Cf645ef34-10d5-4809-9ac8-4da40b05b563-42856195%2Cf645ef34-10d5-4809-9ac8-4da40b05b563-42856195%7C2%2Cunknown%2C%2C%2CtitlesResults%2C80176715%2CVideo%3A80176715%2CminiDpPlayButton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HONORABLE MENTION: THE LEGACY OF A WHITETAIL DEER HUNTER<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This last one is just an honorable mention because it&#8217;s not a show, it&#8217;s a movie, but I think it&#8217;s really fun. The title is pretty self explanatory: a father-son hunting trip turns into a turn of comedic,  unforeseen circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hunting is used more as a backdrop, and you don&#8217;t learn anything, but I think it&#8217;s a great way to show how hunting is typically a tradition passed on from father-figure to son (or daughter!)(or anything else!), and how that dynamic shapes each of us as hunters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s also just an amazing movie. One of my faves.
